Guidelines for Parents

  • Because of the fundamental importance of the sacrament a child should be Baptized as soon as possible.
  • It has been the custom in the Church to give the child a name which reflects one's own Christian faith. Typically, the name of a saint is chosen as the first, middle, or one of the middle names of the child.
  • Parent(s) of the child to be baptized must be registered at St. Julie Billiart Parish, or receive permission from pastor of their current parish.
  • The parent(s) must read/view the material posted on this website and then contact the Pastoral Associate to begin the preparation for your child's baptism.
  • The parent(s) and the godparent(s) are required, to attend a Baptismal Preparation Class. The classes typically take place from 7:00 - 8:00 pm on a week night.  Classes are scheduled as the need arises.
  • Traditionally, an offering is made to the church as a sign of thanksgiving for the blessing God has bestowed on the cild and family and in support of the broader mission of the parish.  A typical offering is between $35 - $45.
