Parish Nurses

Parish Nursing is a recognized specialty practice that combines professional nursing and health ministry.  Parish Nurses appreciate that all persons are sacred and must be treated with respect and dignity. We work to improve the health of body, mind and spirit. We focus on the whole person to emphasize wellness, disease prevention and health promotion, including healthy spirituality.

Parish Nurses are a new and growing ministry at St. Julie’s. Currently we have two registered nurses, who have completed the basic nurse preparation course for parish nurses and are active in this ministry.

At St. Julie’s our Parish Nurses:

• Hold blood pressure screenings
• Organized a walking group to encourage exercise
• Coordinate a very active Prayer Shawl Ministry
• Conduct Diabetes Management classes
• Conduct Stress Management classes
• Share health information through the parish bulletin
