St. Julie’s Ladies Guild

St. Julies Ladies Guild was organized in 1970.  It meets on the first Wednesday of each month from September to April in the parish hall.  Any woman 18 years of age or over, or wife of a parishioner regardless of faith may become a member.  Membership dues are $10.00 a year.

The purpose of the Guild is to promote spiritual growth and social activity as well as to assist in parish activities.  Programs for the monthly meetings vary from spiritual subjects, to entertainment, and refreshments.  Usually homemade items are provided by the members.

St. Julies Ladies Guild has touched the lives of many parishioners burdened with illness or bereavement.   The Sunshine Chairperson remembers Guild members who are ill with flowers and cards, and expresses sympathy to parishioners who have lost a love one.

At Christmas the Guild adopts a family in need in the parish and has fun shopping for clothes for the family and toys for the children, and then wrapping all the gifts.

Another chairperson visits a local Nursing Home and provides entertainment and birthday parties once a month for the residents.  The residents  give the Guild their wish list for Christmas and the ladies enjoy buying the gifts which are distributed by Santa at the Christmas party.  In many cases it is the only Christmas some residents have.

There are chairpersons for different activities sponsored by the Guild.  They include parish dinners, sales of meat pies, cakes, sweet bread, and a very popular event, is the sale of malassadas made by the women with the help of some dedicated men in the parish.  Also, once a month the ladies sponsor a coffee and donut breakfast after Sunday Masses.

Another important fund raising event is the Booster Club.  Members, parishioners and non-parishioners join in September and are entitled to participate in a monthly drawing of $25.00 and enjoy a dinner in the spring at which grand prizes are drawn.

The proceeds from these events are given to the pastor for scholarships and other parish needs.

The Guild is always happy to welcome new members.  Please contact the parish office for the name and telephone number of the Membership Chairperson.
