Musica Sacra or Sacred Music is music that has been devised for and therefore should be used only within the Church’s Sacred Liturgy, especially at Holy Mass and for the Divine Office. It is the choir’s duty to lead the parish in melodious, reverent prayer to the Lord, be it praiseful, thankful, sorrowful, or intercessory.
At St. Julie Billiart Church the parish choir ordinarily sings at the 9:00 am Mass on Sunday, as well as at other significant liturgical feasts and celebrations. (Note: the choir is presently suspended during the COVID-19 restrictions). Adults who are dedicated to the Holy Mass and to the practice of the faith may apply to the pastor to become part of the parish choir.
St. Julie Billiart Parish also maintains a Children/Youth Choir that sings occasionally at the 9:00 am Mass on Sunday. Parents of interested children should speak with the pastor about their children becoming part of the children/youth choir.
